Larks' Tongues In Aspic is the fifth studio album by King Crimson, released on March 23, 1973. It is the debut album of the third incarnation of King Crimson, featuring original member and guitarist Robert Fripp, as well as new members. The album includes experimental instrumental pieces and vocal songs, with influences from jazz fusion and heavy metal. The album's title was inspired by percussionist Jamie Muir's interpretation of the music as something fragile and delicate, covered in something corrosive and acidic. The album is known for its angular and fierce character, influenced by Bela Bartok. The instrumental piece 'Lark's Tongues in Aspic' gave the album its name, and the album includes a mix of instrumental and vocal pieces.
